Compliance Officer
Department: Finance / Risk & Compliance
Reports To: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Job Summary
The Compliance Officer (Finance) is responsible for ensuring that all financial activities, reporting, and transactions comply with internal policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements. The role safeguards the organization against financial risk, fraud, and non-compliance while supporting transparency, accountability, and strong financial governance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Compliance Monitoring

Ensure compliance with financial regulations, tax laws, and accounting standards (IFRS, GAAP where applicable).

Monitor financial transactions for adherence to company policies and approval limits.

Review payment processes, payroll, and vendor transactions for compliance.
2. Internal Controls & Risk Management
-
Implement and monitor internal financial control systems.
-
Identify financial risks and recommend mitigation measures.
-
Ensure segregation of duties within financial processes.
-
Support fraud prevention and detection activities.
3. Audit Support
-
Coordinate internal and external financial audits.
-
Provide required documentation and explanations during audits.
-
Track audit findings and ensure timely corrective actions.
-
Maintain audit trails for all financial activities.
4. Policy Development & Enforcement
-
Support development and review of financial compliance policies and SOPs.
-
Ensure adherence to procurement-to-payment (P2P) and revenue recognition policies.
-
Enforce compliance with expense management and reimbursement policies.
5. Regulatory Reporting
-
Ensure timely submission of statutory financial reports and tax filings.
-
Liaise with regulatory bodies (FIRS, tax authorities, auditors, etc.).

Monitor changes in financial regulations and communicate updates to management.
6. Fraud Prevention & Ethics
-
Investigate suspicious financial activities or irregularities.
-
Maintain whistleblowing mechanisms and confidentiality.
-
Promote ethical financial practices across departments.
7. Training & Awareness
-
Conduct compliance training for finance and non-finance staff.
-
Promote awareness of financial policies and regulatory obligations.
8. Reporting & Documentation
-
Prepare compliance and risk reports for management.
-
Maintain proper documentation of financial approvals and audits.
-
Track compliance KPIs and highlight deviations.
Qualifications & Requirements
-
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field.
-
Professional certification (ICAN, ACCA, CPA) is an advantage.

4–8 years of experience in finance, audit, or compliance roles.
-
Strong knowledge of IFRS, financial regulations, and internal controls.
-
Experience in EPC, construction, oil & gas, or corporate finance preferred.
