Reports To:Welding Foreman
Job Summary
Structural Welders perform welding on beams, columns, plates, and other structural components using specified welding processes.
Key Responsibilities
-
Perform welding on structural steel components (Carbon Steel/Stainless Steel).

Execute welds in positions (3G, 4G, 6G) as qualified.

Clean and prepare surfaces before welding (grinding, brushing).

De-slag and clean welds for inspection.

Maintain welding equipment and cables in good condition.

Follow all safety protocols regarding hot work and fire prevention.
Required Qualifications
-
SSCE/WAEC.
-
Trade Test Certificate (Ministry of Labour).
Professional Certifications & Licenses
-
Valid Welder Performance Qualification (WPQ) record.
-
Relevant coded welder certificates (AWS D1.1 usually).
Experience Requirements
-
Minimum 3-5 years of structural welding experience.
Technical Skills & Competencies
-
Proficiency in SMAW (Stick) and FCAW processes.
-
Ability to pass radiographic/ultrasonic testing.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
-
Pass rate of NDT inspections.
-
Linear meters welded per shift.
Working Conditions
-
Working at heights and in confined spaces.
-
Use of full PPE including welding hoods and respirators.
Physical Requirements
-
Good hand-eye coordination.
-
Ability to lift heavy metal parts.
