WELDING FOREMAN

Department/Division:Construction / Fabrication

Reports To:Welding Supervisor

Job Summary

The Welding Foreman acts as the direct leader of the welding crew, ensuring productivity and quality at the ground level. They translate the supervisor's plans into action.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of welders in daily tasks.

  • Ensure welders have the necessary tools, materials, and PPE.

  • Check joint fit-ups prior to welding.

  • Monitor welding parameters (voltage, amperage, travel speed) against WPS.

  • Conduct Tool Box Talks focused on specific welding hazards.

  • Ensure proper handling and return of stubs/unused consumables.

  • Report daily production (diameter inches welded) to the Supervisor.

  • Enforce housekeeping in welding habitats.

Required Qualifications

  • Trade Test I, II, & III (Federal Ministry of Labour).

  • NABTEB or City & Guilds in Welding & Fabrication.

Professional Certifications & Licenses

  • Previous coding/qualification in 6G positions.

  • HSE Level 2.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years of welding experience with 2 years in a leadership role.

Technical Skills & Competencies

  • Proficient in SMAW and GTAW processes.

  • Ability to interpret blueprints and welding symbols.

  • Leadership and conflict resolution skills.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Crew daily weld production targets.

  • Crew weld rejection rate.

  • Zero safety violations by crew.

Working Conditions

  • Outdoor/Site based.

Physical Requirements

  • Physical stamina and dexterity.
