 COATING SUPERVISOR

Department/Division:Corrosion Control

Reports To:Construction/Maintenance Manager

Job Summary

The Coating Supervisor oversees surface preparation and painting/coating application to ensure corrosion protection of assets in compliance with NACE/SSPC standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and supervise blasting and painting activities.

  • Ensure climatic conditions (Relative Humidity, Dew Point) are suitable for coating.

  • Inspect surface profile after blasting.

  • Monitor wet and dry film thickness (WFT/DFT).

  • Manage paint inventory and ensure correct mixing ratios.

  • Ensure proper disposal of hazardous waste (grit, paint cans).

  • Prepare coating inspection reports.

Required Qualifications

  • HND/B.Sc. in Chemistry or Engineering (desirable).

Professional Certifications & Licenses

  • NACE CIP Level 2 or SSPC PCI Level 2.

  • ICorr Level 2.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years in industrial coating application.

Technical Skills & Competencies

  • Knowledge of various coating systems (Epoxy, Polyurethane, Zinc).

  • Use of inspection tools (Elcometer, Bresle patch).

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Quality of coating (Pass rate of Holiday testing).

  • Productivity (sqm/day).

Working Conditions

  • Exposure to chemical fumes and dust.

Physical Requirements

  • Normal color vision.
